Special Investigation Team (SIT) had purportedly forced a property dealer Vijay Singh to register the land under question in the name of the complainant Soni, wife of an Army personal and resident of Vikasnagar, without lodging FIR and taking follow-up actions against the dealer for delaying things despite being paid, said sources.
Garhwal Range DIG Pushpak Jyoti said that Soni had submitted a written complaint at SIT around three months ago. In her written complaint, she had stated that she had given Rs 3.50 lakh to the property dealer Vijay Singh to purchase a plot of land (151.95 square metres) at Chharba, Pachhuwadun, Vikasnagar. Vijay Singh had kept on delaying registration of the land, the complainant had said.
Acting on the complaint, the DIG had formed a team to probe the case. As per sources, the probe revealed that the SIT team members had forced Singh to register the land on May 17. “The question is why the team refrained from taking recourse to law like lodging FIR and putting him in jail, something which would prove deterrent for such persons harassing the buyers on one pretext or the other,” said sources.
