Acting on the State Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat's 'nationalist' diktat to the vice-chancellors of the universities and principals of the colleges based in the State during a meeting in Nainital earlier this month, DAV College principal Devendra Bhasin has made mandatory for students to sing the national anthem and the national song 'Vande Matram' twice a day from the next academic session.
Bhasin announced this while he was meeting the college faculties on Friday. Besides, he said a 100-feet national flag will be installed on the college campus. Also, he made it mandatory for teachers to stay on the campus at least for five hours a day.
The principal announced that the students would apply online for admission from the new academic session. Students can deposit their fees through challans of Central Bank of India and State Bank of India where the online payment system are available.
He also asked the college examination management to make foolproof arrangements for fair conduct of the examinations. The students canteen has been given to a private firm and it would start functioning in the new form from next session.
He said the State Higher Education Minister has called a meeting of principals of State-based colleges and the presidents, vice presidents and general secretaries of the students unions of the State-based universities at the Doon University on May 9.
