Due to non-payment of loan by a private company based at plot no 41 and 42 Industrial area within the village of Salempur, SIIDCUl Haridwar, Punjab National Bank Dehradun branch sealed it on Friday, an action which has affected 200 employees who were working in it.

The workers staged a protest outside the factory, demanding their wages and overtime amount, unpaid for the past one and half month, to be paid immediately. They also demanded pay of six months, saying that they have been terminated without any notice.

As per the sources, in spite of regular notices sent by the bank to SGV Developers Private limited, the management did not take it seriously. In a notice issued to the factory owners, the bank said that they confiscated the plant, the machinery, furniture, equipment and tools.

The amount due to bank being Rs 45,96,24,462, the guarantors Sunil Gupta, Vinay Kumar Jain and Sushil Goyal were issued the notice.

The workers alleged that the general manager of the factory Deepak Sharma had given them four-day break from September 12 when they came to work. “We were asked to come on  September 16. Sharma also gave his mobile number for contact,” said one of them.

The factory owner could not be contacted on phone despite repeated efforts by this correspondent.
