Sidhu should be suspended: Jugaran

The State Government should immediately suspend the Director General of state Police (DGP) BS Sidhu and initiate a high level inquiry against him. The Former President of Rajya Nirman Andolankari Samman Parishad Ravindra Jugaran raised this demand in a letter addressed to state Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Tuesday. Jugaran also demanded that the highly decorated suspended Inspector Nirvikar Singh should immediately be reinstated in the service.

Jugaran said that Sidhu is in media headlines for last two years on the issue of illegally occupying 7450 sq meter forest land and cutting trees but the state government is sitting silent on the issue. He said that the Chief Secretary Subhash Kumar has clearly mentioned in the affidavit submitted to the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that the aforesaid land is of forest department. To substantiate his views the CS has mentioned the numbers of the revenue records of the forest land illegally occupied by Sidhu. Jugaran said that the honourable judge Alok Singh of Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has ordered the state government to constitute a Special Investigation Team (SIT) on the matter. He said that suspended Inspector Nirvikar Singh who exposed the activities of DGP was harassed by the department and now ground for his termination from service is being prepared under pressure from the DGP.

The BJP leader said that many senior police officers are helping the DGP for their personal gains and the inquiry should also be done to investigate their role. He demanded that a high level inquiry from an investigative agency like CBI should be ordered on the issue which needs urgent attention.
