Over a dozen girls working with a showroom here lodged complaint with the Haldwani police on Friday, accusing their employer of harassment at the work place.

The girls approached the local Haldwani police on Friday, after their employer —owner of the Nagpal Bajaj showroom, sacked them from their services. In their complaint, the girls alleged that their employer Ranbir Nagpal and his son Ankur Nagpal also used abusive language against them. There were a total 16 girls who were sacked by the said showroom owner, they said, adding all the girls are different parts of Nainital and other areas of UP.

More so, the working girls also alleged that Ranbir Nagpal also used to send ‘vulgar’ messages to their mobile numbers. But we were continuously ignoring all that we had been facing for long. Now, we demanded that the police must take strong action against them so that other may not have to face that we have been facing for long.

Even the matter of fact is that the employer did not pay our full salary this month. The employer paid us half of our salary on vouchers on Thursday, saying to pay rest of the amount on Friday. But today, he not only terminated our services but also misbehaved with us using abusive language, alleged one of the girls on the condition of anonymity.

However, when asked Uttam Singh Jimiwal, SHO of Halwani said the police has receive a complaint in this regard. Only after the inquiry report it will be clear what is the actual matter, asserted the SHO.
