On the matter of issuance of fake training certificates for renewal of commercial driving licences, the transport department has issued show cause notice to one clerk of the licence section of the Regional Transport Office here, although many more are suspected to be involved. With the help of some agents and alleged involvement of some department insiders more than 400 commercial driving licence holders seeking renewal of their licences had managed to get fake training certificates.
The Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), administration Sandeep Saini told The Pioneer that the concerned official of the license section was issued a show cause notice and the department is waiting for the reply of the notice. He claimed that departmental action would be initiated against those who are involved in it.
A commercial driving license is needed to be renewed every three years and for this applicant have to undergo a two day training programe. The department has authorized Institute of Driving and Traffic Research (IDTR) located at Jhajhra for the training which issues a certificate after the completion of this training. The RTO renews the commercial license on the basis of this training certificate. Saini said that acting on the claims by some people –read agents- that the applicants need not go to the training institute for the certificate, the department initiated a probe.
He informed that the manager of the IDTR was called at the RTO office and was asked to verify some training certificate in which he identified the fake certificates. It was revealed that the fake certificates resembled the original in every aspect and the department segregated them from the number series. The transport office issued notices to about 400 people whose licenses were renewed with the help of these fake certificates. On the basis of the reply of the some of such people the department filed a complaint with the police against unidentified persons. The police have lodged an FIR and are investigating the case. The agents in collusion with some department insiders are involved in the racket of the issuance of fake certificates, it is alleged.
