Uttarakhand legislative Assembly Speaker Gobind Singh Kunjwal has expressed his serious unhappiness over the short supply of subsidised food grains to different hilly areas of the region, particularly in Almora for the past three months.
Supply of subsidised food grains to hilly areas particularly in Almora remaining disrupted for the past three months is a matter of serious concern, said Kunjwal during his visit to Almora on Tuesday.
Emphasising on the need to have adequate stock of food grains in subsidised ration shops, Kunjwal directed the District Magistrate, Almora and District Supply officer, Almora to ensure immediate availability of essential commodities like rice, wheat and sugar and kerosene oil in all the subsidised ration shops so that people may not have to face any trouble ahead.
Unavailability of subsidised food grins and that too for the past three months is a matter of serious concern. Therefore, officials concerned must restore the civil supply to different parts as early as possible. Carelessness on part of the officials concerned in this regard will be taken seriously, he asserted.
However, the interesting fact is that this is not the first time when the Speaker of the Uttarakhandlegislative Assembly has openly aired his views on a matter of public interest.
