Shah to galvanise BJP into poll mode

The national president of Bharatiya Janata Party Amit Shah is expected to take feedback on the functioning of the State Government from the party leaders aside from taking stock of the preparedness of the party organisation to take on the high-stake general election scheduled next year during his Dehradun visit on Sunday.

Shah would arrive at Dehradun airport at 10.15 am. From there he would travel to Haridwar where he would visit Shantikunj and Bharat Mata Temple. From there, the BJP president would reach Dehradun where he is scheduled to attend four programmes.

He would hold meetings with the full- time members of the party and the volunteers of the party’s social media cell. It would be followed by a brainstorming session with the intellectuals associated with the party. He would then chair a meeting of the election committee constituted for the lok Sabha elections. One of the main thrust of the BJP president’s visit would be on the social media warriors of the saffron outfit. The social media wing of the party has included in the cells members from every Assembly segment of the State to lend them a representative character. The social media unit has been tasked with taking the achievements of the Narendra Modi Government to the mass of the people to help them emotionally connect with the party. Those working in the cell said that they are looking forward to receiving tips from the BJP chief during the meeting.

The saffron party insiders said that the electoral battle 2019 being a high-stake one with the Opposition likely to go all-out to oust BJP from power, Shah is intent on not yielding an inch of ground to the Opposition with his focus trained on streamlining the party organisation to face the upcoming electoral challenge and also on firming up an appropriate poll strategy much before the Opposition settles right into the election mode. “What is significant is that though the State has just five seats in the lok Sabha-which the party swept during 2014 election-the party chief is determined to ensure a repeat in the upcoming election.

He has made it clear to us all that every seat is crucial for the election and there should be not the least room for complacency anywhere,” said a senior state BJP leader on Saturday.

The State party brass seems to be edgy as Shah is most likely to review the follow-up measures taken by the State unit on the directives he had given during his last visit.

Meanwhile, the State unit of the party has made the State general secretary Naresh Bansal as the overall in-charge of Shah’s visit.

Another general secretary Gajraj Bisht would be the in-charge of the social media event, the party sources informed.
