Shah asks voters to throw out 'corrupt' Rawat Govt

While addressing a well-attended rally in Haldwani on Wednesday that marks the end of the party’s Parivantan Yatra in Kumaon, BJP’s national president Amit Shah exhorted the people to remove the corrupt Harish Rawat Government from power and bring in BJP to cleanse things for the state. Alluding to the sting CD that created flutter across the country in which Harish Rawat was purportedly shown as horse- trading MlAs ahead of the crucial floor test following the imposition of President’s Rule, he said it painted the State black and warranted that the corrupt CM is shown the door. He referred to the alleged patronage being provided to the liquor and sand mafias by the State Government in his blistering attack on the Congress-led State Government.

Dwelling on the real significance of the term Parivartan, Shah said that it did not merely signify a regime change but a change in the system itself. “Bringing about this change in the system is an imperative for the State as the incumbent Government has reduced it to a machinery to loot its resources through unleashing liquor and mining mafias. As far as a perfect system is concerned the interests of the poor must gain precedence over other consideration, something that is sadly missing in the State,” he said.

While projecting  the face of his party as pro- Uttarakhand even before the hill state was carved out of Uttar Pradesh, Shah said that their leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee had presided over the historic event. “Now, it is time for the PM  Narendra Modi to transform the State developmentally. You must rally behind him to help him unfurl his vision of development for the stagnating State,” he said. Without naming Harish Rawat, Shah said the antecedents of the person now ruling the state were hostile to the creation of Uttarakhand. “How can we expect he would usher in developmentIJ” he said.

Referring to the state contributing much to the security and sovereignty of the nation through the defence personnel, he said one person from every house of the State is working  either in the Army or the para military forces. “ There is also a large number of ex-servicemen here,” he said.

He spoke about the surgical strike along PoK against terror and the Centre’s initiative to implement One Rank One Pension (OROP) scheme to strike a chord with such people.

Slamming the Congress for sleeping over the OROP demand for years they were in power, Shah said that the Modi Government had come forward  to act on it soon after being voted to power. “Prior to the surgical strike, the Army men posted in the border were forced to seek approval from Delhi to retaliate against the intruding Pak troops. Now things are different. It is not for nothing that  our policy is being acclaimed across the worlds,” he said.

Contrasting the scam-tainted decade of the UPA rule under Manmohan Singh  with the scam-free two and half years of the NDA regime, he exuded confidence  that no scam would surface in the remainder of the NDA rule.

launching a broadside on the Opposition vis-à-vis the demonetization drive, Shah said that only those who had lost the  unaccounted- for cash  were raising harangues over it. “They are making the common people scapegoat for the colossal loss they suffered in a single stroke of the Modi Government,” the BJP president said.
