The agitating students obstructed the process of interview for the post of Associate Professor in Doon University on Tuesday. The interview for the Assistant Professor and Associate Professor was slated on the day.
The students and some activists of Students Federation of India assembled at administrative block of the university and held a silent protest. The students alleged that ineligible candidates are being called up for the interview for the post of Associate Professor Economics.
Two candidates were called up for interview for this position but only one person turned up on the day. The students demanded that the interview process should be cancelled as the candidate is not eligible.
Ostensibly under pressure from the students, the university officials on verification of the documents found that the candidate is not serving in Pay band III as required for the post and found him not eligible for the interview. The University's Public Relations Officer Gaurav Arora accepted that the candidate was not found fit for the associate professor's post and was not interviewed by the board.
The students later submitted a memorandum to the Vice Chancellor state vigilance department should be involved in the process of recruitment so that the menace of fraudulent recruitment is checked.
