The activists of Student Federation of India (SFI) burned the effigy of Vice Chancellor (VC) of Doon University, VK Jain near protest site on Sunday. The members of the association assembled at the busy lansdowne chowk raised a vociferous protest against the VC and demanded his resignation. Speaking on the occasion the state General secretary DS Rawal said that the university is trying to impose a gag order in the campus.

He said the University in gross violation of norms is conducting interviews for the posts of Associate Professors in economics. Rawal said that Associate Professor is Pay band IV post and only candidates working in Pay band III are eligible to apply for this post. He alleged that the shortlisted candidates for interview are not even eligible for the post.

The State Vice President, Vipin Joshi said the University has called only two candidates for as many posts of assistant Professor. He said that the undue haste in which the interviews are organised raises suspicion of foul play.

The former President of DAV college, lekh Raj alleged that the university administration has appointed many members of faculty in open violation of norms in past also. The members of the association demanded that the state Chief Minister and education minister should take cognizance of the irregularities and the incumbent VC should be removed.

Amid shouting of slogans the furious SFI members consigned the effigy of the VC to flames.
