Two persons including a woman, who had been arrested in connection with a sex racket here on Thursday, were sent to jail on Friday, while the girl rescued in this case, was handed over to her family members in Almora.
In the meanwhile, the anti-human trafficking cell of the Uttarakhand Police has urged the SDM, Haldwani to seize the house in Haldwani’s Bholanath Garden area from where the arrested woman was allegedly running the sex racket.
“We have urged the SDM Haldwani to seize the house of the woman from where she had been running this sex racket in Haldwani’s Bholanath Garden area,” said Dl Verma, incharge of the anti-human trafficking cell, Haldwani, while talking to The Pioneer.
At the same time, the suspects including the woman and the man arrested in connection with this sex racket were produced in a local Haldwani court and the court subsequently sent them to jail on Friday, Varma further said. However, the girl who was rescued in this sex racket was sent to her home in Almora. A team of women police personnel has gone to Almora to hand over the said girl to her parents after counseling, he informed.
It may be recalled that acting on some complaints in regard to running a sex racket in city’s Bholanath Garden area for a long period, the anti–human trafficking cell of the Uttarakhand police on Thursday, arrested two persons including a woman and rescued a girl in connection with this sex racket being run from a house in this colony. The woman arrested on the charge of running this sex racket is believed to be a medical representative by profession, as the local source here said.
The person, Danish, who has been arrested in this case, is a native of Rampur and presently he is staying with his relative in Haldwani, said the police official concerned.
