The Serbian director Goran Paskaljevic will start shooting for his film Devbhoomi based on the natural beauty and rich cultural tradition of the Uttarakhand from April 11.
Victor Banerjee figures in it as the main cast. It will be the first ever Indo-Serbian co-production and would be shot entirely in Uttarakhand.
The film depicts the homecoming of a 65-year-old Rahul, who, when he discovers he is going blind, decides to return from England to his native village in Garhwal.
The director came to India to focus on the beauty and the cultural heritage of the country in his film.
However, the Himalayas fascinated him the most. Victor Banerjee and Garhwal Central University head of English department Prof DP Purohit helped him to get acquainted with the cultural tradition of Uttarakhand and to select the location of the film here.
Prof Purohit said that the director had met him one year back and told about his desire to make film on Uttarakhand. After visiting several places, he went to london. He returned again as the Himalayan spell on him remained undimmed.
