The State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) has issued an advisory to all district magistrates in view of the possibility of heavy snowfall forecast by the meteorological centre.
As per the SEOC advisory, the meteorological centre forecast issued on Thursday morning has stated the possibility of heavy snowfall during the next 24 hours in places located at and above 3,000 metres altitude in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Bageshwar and Pithoragarh districts. Further, during the next 24 hours, there is the likelihood of hail in some places in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat and Pithoragarh districts.
In case there is heavy snowfall, there may also be the risk of avalanche. Considering this, the locals have been asked to remain informed about snowfall and avalanche in their nearby areas. In case of snowfall, movements in such areas should be restricted and resorted to only if necessary.
The people have also been asked to not let much snow accumulate on the roofs of their homes, shelters and cowsheds. Those residing in areas experiencing heavy snowfall should shift for a few days to lower altitude areas. The district magistrates have been requested to spread this information in the areas concerned.
