A senior citizen cell has been set up in Dehradun to help the elderly persons have their grievances redressed. One can report on the mobile number 97600585037 of the inspector of the cell if any help is needed, said Dehradun senior superintendent of police Nivedita Kukreti on Wednesday, adding that they would arrange counselling for the senior citizens who require it.
She further said that many senior citizens of the district are living alone and in view of this, their complaints should be taken up on a priority basis. She also laid stress on launching verification drive of the tenants, servants and others particularly of the houses where the senior citizens live to stop crimes. Besides, the names, addresses and mobile numbers of the senior citizens who are living alone must be noted down, she said, adding that police station officers and police post officers have been directed to visit the senior citizens once in a week to have their grievances addressed promptly.
