Send your children to Govt Schools: SJSA to employees

Published on:

The activists of Shiksha Jan Sangharsh Abhiyan (SJSA) staged a sit-in at district collectorate on Thursday and demanded that all those who are drawing monetary benefits from the Government treasury should compulsorily admit their wards in the Government schools. The activists later handed over a memorandum to the District Magistrate (DM). The activists raised slogans in support of their demand and organised a Dharna.

The Convener of the SJSA, Kamla Pant said that the Allahabad High Court (HC) has recently given a historic judgment asking the Uttar Pradesh Government to ensure that all Government employees should send their children to the Government schools. She said that the State Government of Uttarakhand should adopt a similar stand. Pant said that the neglected Government schools would be greatly served if children of Ministers and top Government officials are admitted in them as the entire Government machinery would get involved in the increasing infra structure and other facilities in these schools. SJSA is a joint forum of 28 social and political organisations. The forum was build to put pressure on Government to improve facilities in its schools and give a voice to the parents harassed by the whimsical attitude of the private schools.

The activists said that they would be forced to intensify their stir if the State Government fails to rein in the private school operators.
