For three days the shooters of blanket dealer, Amit Dixit alias Goldey, who was shot dead on March 6 near his residence, had been meeting near Mayadevi temple. The shooters Mujahid, Bittu and Vikki Thakur are dropouts from a law college of lucknow and had links with the notorious gang leader Jeeva from Uttar Pradesh who is still behind bars in Mainpuri prison.
They wanted to kill a truck trader but Amit became the victim instead.
Following this, Haridwar police have increased the security of the Kankhal resident truck dealer who was on the target of the history sheeters.
A Congress leader was also on the wish list of the shooters revealed one of the accused during interrogation. The two shooters are still absconding and the search is on, said the police.
It is worthy to be mentioned here that Amit Dixit alias Goldey, 37, was shot four bullets by motorbike-borne assailants near his residence in Nirmala Chhawani on March 6 while going to his shop located near the Mata Mansa Devi road.
He hailed from Saharanpur district but was living with his relatives in Haridwar for the past few years.
Speaking to The Pioneer, SSP Krishna Kumar said, “For three days in March 4 to 6, Mujahid, Bittu and Vikki met near Mayadevi temple in Haridwar before targeting the final kill. On 6 March, Mujahid and Bittu parked their motorbike near the temple and rided the bike of Vikki and reached Nirmala Chhawani to shoot Amit.
The shooters had aimed for two killings on March 6 but after hitting the wrong person, they dropped the idea of killing the actual targetted Kankhal resident.
They also wanted to kill a Congress leader. During interrogation the accused Vikki Thakur revealed this.”
Vikki wanted to be in good books of history sheeter Dr. Sanjeev Maheshwari alias Jeeva, the gangster of Western UP and used to meet him when Jeeva was taken for trials in the court in Delhi, added the SSP.
The reason why the master mind behind the shoot, Jeeva, had enmity with the Kankhal resident, Subhash Saini was that he had property of 8 bighas in Gyan lok colony, adjacent to National Highway which is under dispute in court since 1992.
Jeeva wanted to build a flat on the National highway and so planned to kill the kankhal resident along with Vikki, whose history sheeter father was his friend.
