Given past experiences of protest rallies being generally taken out by various unions and outfits during the Vidhan Sabha session, district administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC in the 500 metres periphery of the Assembly to maintain law and order, said Dehradun District Magistrate Chandresh Kumar on Saturday. Winter session of Vidhan Sabha is scheduled to begin from Monday.
It was observed in previous years that various unions and associations and even political parties take out rallies outside Vidhan Sabha premises as well as in the city during the session. He said, “To keep things under control during the third session of the Vidhan Sabha, we have decided to impose section 144 of CrPC on the 500 metres periphery of the Assembly from Monday.” The DM said that no person will be allowed to carry bamboo, hockey stick, sword, explosive materials and other arms and ammunitions in the 500 metres periphery of the Assembly during the session.
Apart from these restrictions, no one will be allowed to raise slogans. Besides, the use of loudspeaker has been strictly prohibited. Speeches with communal undertones will not be allowed. No one will be allowed to write graffiti on the government buildings. The assembly of five or more persons at the above places would not be banned. Nobody would be allowed to approach the Assembly in auto-rickshaws, taxis and buses in the capital. It will remain enforced since November 24 till the next order, the DM added.
