At a time when the Uttarakhand Government is gearing up to ensure that the investment commitments rolled out during Investors Summit are translated into reality, the employees of the State secretariat have upped their ante with threat of agitation.
Irked over the State Government’s decision to abolish two posts of additional secretaries (Grade Pay Rs 10000) belonging to the cadre of secretariat services, the Uttarakhand Sachivalaya Sangh has embarked on a stir on Tuesday.
The members of the association staged a sit-in outside the main building of the State secretariat from 10 am to 1pm on Tuesday in support of their 21-point charter of demands.
The president of the association, Deepak Joshi, said that the State Government has adopted a confrontationist attitude regarding the demands of the secretariat workers. He warned that the agitation would be further intensified in the coming days if the State Government continues to sit on the demands raised by the association. Joshi, however, added that further course of action would be decided by the association after a meeting of its executive body is held on October 15.
The association of the secretariat employees demands the vacant promotional posts of secretariat employees be filled by Departmental Promotional Committee (DPC) without delay. The secretariat workers, further, demand promotional avenues in reviewing officer cadre and personal secretary cadres be restored and the pending allowance as per the VII pay commission be paid at the earliest.
Another demand of the association is that the recommendation of Indu Kumar committee to abolish 45 sections should not be implemented in the secretariat and the spouses of the workers employed in State Government service should be provided a quota for transfer to Dehradun.
