Seats under MP quota in State KVs still vacant

The seats under Member of Parliament (MP) quota in various Kendriya Vidhyalayas (KV) of State are still vacant as the MPs of the State could not send their recommendations for these seats due to the Model Code of Conduct which was enforced in view of the General elections.

The admission process for the KVs of Uttarakhand region ended in the month of March. Interestingly when the admission process started in these schools the Model Code of Conduct was implemented as the general election were announced. These MPs could not send their recommendation as all their privileges are ceased automatically during code of conduct.

There are five lok Sabha MPs and three Rajya Sabha MPs in Uttarakhand. As per the provision of the Kendriya Vidhyalay Sangathan (KVS) a MP can recommend for six students. A lok Sabha MP can recommend for admissions in the school located in his parliamentary constituency while Rajya Sabha MP can recommend for admission in any school located in the State.

The Deputy Director KVS Uttarakhand region SS Chauhan said that there are 48 seats in the state under the MP quota and all of them are yet to be filled. The Model Code of Conduct ends on Friday which means those interested to admit their wards to KV can still do so with the recommendation of the MPs.

The MPs are provided six coupons for admissions on which they send their recommendations to the HRD Ministry. The ministry sends the recommendations to the KVS from where they are send to the respective principals of the schools where the admission is desired.
