Two days left for the President Pranab Mukherjee to visit the holy city, the district administration is now frantically trying to get hold of a newspaper vendor who would provide the state guest house Dam Kothi where the President would spend some time on September 29 with the leading Bengali daily Ananda Bazar Patrika. The district officials say that they are yet to find any vendor who assures them to provide them with the Bengali daily the President loves to read along with other newspapers.
As per sources, an official from department of information has been contacting those running the Bengali organisations based in Haridwar to learn about the paper and the hawkers who could provide them with the copies of the paper. “We can provide them with a copy of the paper two days after its publication. This is how it reaches us, two days after the date it is published,” said Swami Nityashuddhanand of Ram Krishan Mission, Kankhal. Similar was the response of a member of Bharat Sewashram Sangh based near Agrasen Chowk.
It seems that the President would have to satisfy himself with an old copy of the newspaper he reads daily in the morning.
