A meeting of Pre- Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) committee of Rishikesh was organised on Friday under chairmanship of Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Rishikesh, Vinit Tomar.
In the meeting Tomar asked the members of the committee to undertake an awareness drive on the provisions of the act. He said display boards in prominent places of the city and hospitals should be erected with a clear message that female infanticide is an offence.
The SDM directed official concerned to submit a report of the ultrasound centres of the town. He said that action should be initiated against such ultrasound centres which do not adhere to the provisions of the act.
For enforcement of PCPNDT act the District Magistrate (DM) of Dehradun, Ravinath Raman had directed the Sub Divisional Magistrates (SDM) to constitute PCPNDT committees in their areas. The meeting in Rishikesh was held in accordance with the order of the DM.
The meeting was attended by block Panchayat member Sarojini Thapliyal, Sulochana Kharola, advocate Bhupender Kumar Sharma and Deputy Director Information B P Ghildiyal.
