In the case of the murder of a 12-year-old student of Children Home Academy in Bhogpur allegedly by senior students following alleged theft of a biscuit packet by the child, the father of the victim has stated that he was afraid to let his daughters appear for examination in the same school. Taking serious cognisance of this, the State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR) has assured that it will provide assistance to any parent afraid to allow their ward to continue studying in the said school.

According to the sources, the father of the victim has two daughters who were studying in the same school. One was studying in class VII and another was studying in XI. Both the girls had to appear for their examination on April 2. However, due to some reason, the victim’s father stopped his daughters from appearing in the examination. He further averred that he was being pressured which made him scared of letting his daughters continue studying in the same school.

Taking serious note of this, the SCPCR has stated that any such parent who is scared for their children who are studying in the Children Home Academy can approach the SCPCR. Further, the responsibility for facilitating the enrollment of such students in another school will be taken up by the officials of the commission. “If parents feel concerned about the safety of their child in the said school, they can approach us. We will help the family and get their ward enrolled in some other school,” an official from SCPCR said.
