Independence day was celebrated in various schools and institutions of the region on Tuesday. In the morning the school children took out Prabhat Pheri while also raising patriotic slogans.
In the Century Pulp and Paper Mill, the CEO JP Narayan hoisted the national flag.
At the Nainital dairy producers cooperation association, the chairman Bharat Singh Negi unfurled the Tricolour; in the Nagar Panchayat its chairman Rambabu Mishra hoisted the national flag in the presence of former Cabinet Minister Harish Chandra Durgapal and others.
In lal Bahadur Shastri college, former Minister HC Durgapal, manager Akshat Jain in the Jai Arihant College, inspector in charge Mohammed Shakil at the Railway Protection Force along with the railway station superintendent Neeraj Kumar headed the independence day programmes on the occasion.
