A small refusal from a school girl, who apparently had an affair with her classmate, led to the suicide of the 17-year-old on Wednesday. The class 11 student hanged himself allegedly after an argument with his girlfriend over a trivial matter, who was in the room at the time of the incident. Police handed over his body to his parents after autopsy while investigation is still on in the matter.
In a tragic incident, Shubham, resident of Model colony in Haridwara came with his girlfriend to a building under construction in Shivlok colony on Wednesday morning after bunking their classes. Both started an argument over a tiny matter. When the girl turned away, the boy committed suicide by hanging himself.
Speaking to The Pioneer, sub inspector of Ranipur police station G S Butola said, “Both the students came to their oft-meeting place in Shivlok after bunking their class. Suddenly they picked up an argument over relationship issue and the girl decided to leave him to which Shubham responded saying he would commit suicide. The girl did not take it seriously and Shubham came into the room and hanged himself to death from a ventilator using a cloth lying nearby.”
SHO Ranipur police station Yogendra Singh told the Pioneer, “No suicide note was recovered from the site and we have recorded the statement of the girl who says that she took the threat of committing suicide as a joke from the boy’s side. His body was handed over to their parents after the autopsy. We are investigating the matter, said Yogendra Singh.
Notably father of the boy had died last year and he lived with his mother and two sisters in the Model colony of Jwalapur police station.
