The Doon School will host the 2nd university and careers fair on September 25. It invites pupils from various schools of the region to attend this event with the aim of interacting with admission tutors and representatives of first class universities from India and abroad.
The universities participating in this large event include The Siv Nadar University, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS-Mumbai), Ashoka University- Sonepat and Symbiosis School of liberal Arts-Pune along with twenty Russell group universities from The United Kingdom. Representatives from UK’S Visa department, the British High Commission and the British Council will also be present to impart expert guidance about studying in The United Kingdom. A host of other colleges from other countries such as America, Canada, Germany, Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, Spain, France, Hong-Kong and Singapore are committed to this event.
Boys and parents will have the opportunity to discuss various potential courses and careers with the university representatives. Pupils from other schools as well as Doon boys will be encouraged to ask questions about courses, admission requirements, financial aid opportunities, postgraduate programmes and any other important matters they can come up with as the representatives shall be open to all questions.
The Doon School encourages transparent discussions between parents and college representatives and thus strongly encourages the parents of its current crop of boys from D to Sc form to attend the fair along with their sons. This would assist the boys, their parents and the colleges to make fair and apt decisions about admissions. Certain seminars would also be conducted by colleges focusing on the intricacies of the admissions process.
The school’s senior deputy headmaster, Vinay Pande said, “This is a wonderful chance for our parents to interact with university representatives along with their sons. The school is fortunate to conduct a rolling programme of university visits in large and small groups throughout the academic year. The unique aspect of this event is that the boys along with their parents are able to hear about a wide range of relevant topics from the participating professionals.”
