School principals' meet held over fee increase row

Published on:

To present their side of the story on repeated allegation of hegemony and arbitrary increase of fee, the principals of some of the private schools of the city organised a meeting in Cambrian hall school on Friday and stressed that the State Government should frame the proposed Regulatory body for private schools in such a way that it does not compromise with the quality and standard of the schools.

This meeting was organized under the aegis of ‘ Progressive Schools’ Association’ (PPSA).

The President of PPSA, Prem Kashyap, said that the Supreme Court has clearly stated that there can not be a rigid fee structure which could be enforced by the Government and institutes must have the freedom of designing their fee system. The Principals of these schools were of the view that number of students coming out of the state to get admissions in the schools of the valley has come down. They blamed it on some organizations which are unnecessarily targeting public schools and defaming them.
