School locked for sole teacher's absence in Chamoli

The dire state of affairs in the State Government school education system is displayed at a Government primary school at lata in Chamoli District. The 16 students of the school have been returning home for the past four days as the school locked due to teacher on leave. The villagers expressed anger at the situation and informed the officials concerned that the school had been under lock for four days now since the sole teacher appointed here has gone on a medical leave.

A delegation of villagers met the sub divisional magistrate and block education officer informing them of the problematic situation. Though the lata primary school is locked with its sole teacher going on medical leave, the block education officer has made provision for one teacher from a nearby school. The block education officer is now talking of inquiring to ascertain whether the substitute teacher attended work in the school and then to take necessary action. Similarly, in the remote village of Molta in this region, the government high school is suffering due to absence of teachers. The villagers here have now started a protest demonstration against absence of teachers from this high school.

The pradhan of lata village Rajmati Devi said that the villagers will have no other option but to take action and protest against the authorities if the necessary appointment of teacher is not made soon.
