Taking cognizance on parents’ complaint against public schools, Dehradun City Magistrate GC Gunwant has directed the school managements not to force students’ parents to purchase textbooks, stationary, uniforms and other items from particular shop of the city.
The order will be applicable till May 29, 2014 in Kotwali, Patelnagar, Basant Vihar, Rajpur, Cantt, Dalanwala, Nehru Colony.A case u/s 188 of IPC will be registered against school’s management if they violate the order, he added. Gunwant further said that it has been noticed that school managements have been forcing parents to buy books and other stationary from particular shop. Parents found themselves helpless because of school’s instruction.
