Noted medical expert, Dr Saudan Singh, is the new Vice-Chancellor of the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Uttarakhand Medical Education University.
The appointment of Dr Singh was made by the Governor of Uttarakhand, KK Paul on Wednesday. The Governor is the Chancellor of the university.
The appointment of the new VC is for a period of three years or 65 years of age of the incumbent. Dr Singh is at present working as Director, National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO), under the Directorate-General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
An alumnus of BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, Dr Singh has done his MD from All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi. He is also a Ph.D from Osaka University of Japan.
Dr Singh has served as Director-General of Medical Education in Uttar Pradesh and had had successful stints as Principal of SN Medical College, Agra, and BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur. He has also worked as Director, Head, Department of Community Medicine, VMMC and Safdarjung Hospital, New Delhi.
