Saplings planting drive ends in Haridwar school

A drive of planting saplings started at the behest of Parmarth Niketan in Rishi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya as part of the envisaged mid-day fruit scheme concluded on Wednesday.

Ganga Action Family-Parmarth Niketan Rishikesh initiated the  move to give shape  to the idea conceptualized by the seer Swami Chidanand Saraswati, meant to provide sustainability to the endangered ecosystem.

Notably, on the same line of the Government sponsored mid-day meal scheme where free meal is being provided at lunch to the students of the government-run schools, the mid day fruit scheme would provide the  students with fruits of myriad  varieties once the saplings planted during the drive would shoot up enough to bear fruits.

It  is learnt that saplings of 22 varieties of fruits, including Mango, Pomegranate, Orange, lemon, Guava,  Blackberry, Banana,Papaya, Pears and litchi, have been planted.

Total 151 saplings were planted in the Rishi Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya, Kharkhari, said  Dr Bharat Chand Chaubey.  Coordinator of Ganga Action Family – Parmarth Niketan Vinit Kumar informed that motive behind the scheme is to create the lush green campus in every school to  ensure  that the students get fresh air aside  from free fruit. It would mitigate  the  harmful impact of global warming.
