Spree of inauguration and foundation laying of projects continuing in full swing with a few days left for the Election Commission to enforce the model code of conduct, the Union Minister of State for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation, Dr Sanjeev Balyan laid the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 50 crore for construction of bathing ghats and a crematoria under the Namami Gange Project on the banks of Ganga in Haridwar on Thursday. The Minister said he was feeling elated doing something for the people who come to Mother Ganga for pilgrimage from across the country and the world. “Conservation of Ganga being a massive task, the Centre, the State and the general public must come together to push things on,” he said.

Taking a dig at the former UPA Government at the Centre, he said it had done nothing to clean and conserve the holy river. “However, we are trying our best to fulfill our mission of presenting a clean Ganga to the world. This is why we are now laying the foundation stone of projects worth Rs 50 crore,” he added.
