In support of their pending demands, members of the Sanitation Employees' Union staged protest and met the Mukhya Nagar Adhikari, Ashok Kumar, at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) on Tuesday.

They also submitted a notice warning of work boycott and even threatened to go on hunger strike if their demands are not met.

Speaking on the occasion general secretary of the union, Meenu Gagat said that inspite of regular reminders given to the authorities, no measure has been adopted yet in favour of their demands which are being consistently ignored by the MCD officials.

Their demands include increment in the pay scale of the members of the sanitation committees, regularisation of contract workers and recruitment of the sanitation employees as per the health manual of the MCD.

They also stated that the dual charges of the senior city health officer Dr RK Singh at MCD are leading to  inconvenience for the regular visitors and their works remains pending for many days.

They also demanded promotion of the educated sanitation workers, end to their alleged exploitation and timely payment. They stated that the MNA has once again not responded to their demands.
