Claiming to have solved the case of the murder of a local property dealer Sameer, the police said that they had arrested two alleged hired shooters accused of the crime. According to the police, Sameer had been murdered due to a property dispute with a Rs 3,00,000 contract being allegedly given to the killers. Disclosing this information, the Udham Singh Nagar district senior superintendent of police Sadanand Date announced a cash reward of Rs 2,500 while the inspector general announced a cash reward of Rs 5,000 for the police team which cracked the murder case. Apart from this, the local MlA Rajesh Shukla also announced a reward of Rs 11,000 for the police team.
It is pertinent to mention here that on May 3, at the Aditya Chowk in Kiccha, unknown bike-borne assailants had shot dead property dealer Sameer Ahmed in the broad daylight. The killers had escaped from the scene of crime on their motorcycle. The family members of Sameer had stated that they suspected a property dispute to be the reason behind the murder. They had named his business partner Mohammed Arif and others in their complaint. Considering the seriousness of the daylight murder, the district SSP formed various teams including a Special Operation Group and three other special teams to work on this case. The police teams collected closed circuit television camera footage from the site near the crime scene, undertook surveillance and gathered information related to the crime. According to the police, during their investigation of the case those named in the complaint were not found to be linked to the murder. Following this, the police continued their probe into different angles. Meanwhile, an information provided inputs to the police about contract killers supposedly involved in the murder of Sameer. Acting on this, on Monday the police caught two men identified as shooters Sukhdev alias Sukha and Angrej Singh alias Rinku- both from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh. On searching them, the police found one 32 bore pistol with two bullets and one country made firearm with one live round. According to the police, during interrogation the two shooters confessed to having carried out the murder. The SSP said that the two arrested shooters have a history of crime which is also being checked as the police are probing various angles.
