Sai Complex fire incident raises questions

Published on:

The fire incident in one of the shops at Sai Complex has raised several questions about the functioning of the authorities including the police and Food and Civil Supply department but officials are playing the blame game.

Dehradun Food and Civil Supply officer Shyam Arya said that he along with department inspector had raided several hotels and other commercial establishments and seized domestic cylinders and FIRs were lodged against those flouting the rules but no action was taken by the police.  He said that due to lack of cooperation from police, action against commercial establishments using domestic lPG cylinders for commercial purpose has not been taken so far. However, Dalanwala police denied that small cylinder was being refilled from domestic gas cylinder. The police officer did not respond when he was told that fire officer said that small cylinder was refilled in the shop and fire was caused due to gas welding.
