Uttarakhand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday blamed Akhilesh Yadav led Uttar Pradesh Government for the deadlock emerged on issue of 84 Koshi parikrama. The State BJP unanimously passed a censure motion on last day of its State working committee meet ended at Ramnagar.
Talking to The Pioneer, State BJP general secretary and former State Cabinet Minister Prakash Pant called the stand taken by UP government as wrong. Its stand was responsible for the deadlock on the matter. “Stopping sadhus and people from going on 84 kosi Parikrama is wrong and arresting them is suppression of their constitutional right. Any government cannot stop any person from doing parikrama,” Pant said.
He also extended unanimous support to the stand of the VHP that want to carry out parikrama at any cost. “As a protest against the stand taken by the UP government, the State BJP passed a ninda prastava. We are in favour of the yatra to be carried out in a peaceful way,” Pant said. Pant said that the UP government should allow the yatra, respecting the feelings of thousands of people and sadhus willing to do the yatra. He said that nobody has right to suppress the constitutional right of the people. He justified the stand by the VHP.
