A follower of Matri Sadan, Seer Atambodhan began an indefinite hunger strike here on Saturday, demading immediate suspension Haridwar DM and director of Mining along with the immediate end of illegal mining in Ganga across the district. Swami Shivanand, head of Matri Sadan, said that HC Semwal, district magistrate of Haridwar and Shridhar Babu Adanki, director Mining, should be suspended with immediate effect. He also demanded a departmental inquiry into their roles in thriving the illegal mining in Ganga.
It is may be mentioned that Seer Shivanand had ended his protracted fast when he was given a written assurance received from the office of district magistrate Haridwar on 22 April. Previously, the same district magistrate had given assurance in March, when the Atambodhan was on indefinite strike against illegal mining. Shivanand slammed that both the time DM has not acted on his commitment.
Shivanand charged the Semwal with having removed the important official letters from official files. He personifies falsehood, he added. He further said that as per the fresh and clear instructions given by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) on April 9 to district magistrate Haridwar, all the mining in river Ganga across the district should be stopped in next 24 hours. “Semwal has failed to do so and misplaced this copy of order from the official file,” he added.
