Frustrated for being removed from their jobs the association of laboratory/office assistants employed under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA) burned the effigies of BJP lok Sabha members from Uttarakhand on Tuesday. The members of the association gathered at the agitation site at old Raipur Bus stand and shouted slogans against the BJP members of Parliament before consigning to flames their effigies.
The agitated members said the Central Government stopped the grant for the salaries of the laboratory/office assistants employed under RMSA but all the five members of Parliament remained a mute spectator to the act which would jeopardise the earnings of 1,256 employees. They demanded that since the BJP MPs have failed the aspiration of the people they should resign from the membership of lok Sabha immediately.
The president of the association Gambhir Singh Bisht said the 1,256 office and laboratory assistants were working in different parts of the state from last three years and the government’s decision has forced them to adopt the path of agitation. The President of the association said that the state government should immediately cancel the letter sent to the heads of the school and create new contractual posts for them. The agitators were also addressed by vce president Kamlesh Rawat and general secretary Akhilesh Bahuguna. The association is on warpath for reinstating their services from many days. Five members of the association are sitting on an indefinite fast on the issue.
