The Uttarakhand police may interrogate some BJP leaders particularly those who claim that MlA Rajkumar Thukral, who is still on the run for over two months in connection with the Rudrapur incident of 2011, is in touch with them, if need be.
If any persons including the BJP leaders have any clue about the whereabouts of MlA Thukral, they must cooperate with the police, said BS Siddhu, DGP, Uttarakhand, during his visit here on Sunday, justifying the police action against Thukral in this case.
As per the law if anybody has any information or is in touch with the people who are wanted in the case, they are supposed to help the enforcement agency involved in the case. “Therefore, if need be or we think it is appropriate to talk to the people who claim to be in touch with MlA Thukral, we urge them to cooperate with the police, added the DGP Uttarakhand.
The DGP was responding to some queries suggesting that some BJP leaders are claiming to be in touch with MlA Thukral. At the same time when DGP’s attention was drawn to the charges of the opposition BJP that police action against its MlA Thukral in Rudrapur incident of 2011 is a politically motivated move, the DGP Uttarakhand rejected such charges saying action against MlA Thukral has been taken on the basis of the police investigations.
More so, added Siddhu, court’s order to move further in this case with taking steps like attachment of MlA Thukral’s property only vindicates police action. Therefore, there should not be any doubt about police role in this case, maintained the DGP, Uttarakhand.
It may be recalled that taking further action in this case, the Udham Singh Police attached his property on Saturday last. But arrest of the MlA from Rudrapur still remains a challenge for the police concerned.
It is worth mentioning here that attachment of property of BJP MlA Thukral was inevitable after the Uttarakhand High Court’ rejection to grant him any interim relief on his plea before the court for cancellation of FIR registered against him in connection with this October 2, 2011 case of Rudrapur, Udham Singh Nagar.
Four persons were killed and many others were injured when members of two different communities clashed in Rudrapur on October 2, 2011.
later this Congress led State Government permitted the CB-CID to register a case against BJP MlA from Rudrapur assembly constituency Raj Kumar Thukral in connection with this case. Subsequently, the CB-CID registered a case against Thukral in connection with this case and since then Thukral is on the run to avoid his arrest.
