With the Ruby Choudhary case foundering in the wilderness, the State police are now mulling to change the principal investigating officer for the second time in two and half months. Choudhary who had allegedly stayed in lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA) premises for about seven months while posing as an IAS probationer is now out of jail as she recently secured bail from the district court. Interestingly, Chief Minister Harish Rawat had rejected the State police’s recommendation for a CBI inquiry in the case.
State DGP BS Sidhu said that the investigating officer (IO) was working to crack the case despite the Government having rejected the CBI probe recommendation. “We would soon take some measure steps to solve the case,” he said. It should be mentioned here that the State police had formed a Special Investigation Team led by CBCID in-charge Shahjahan Ansari. On medical ground, Ansari was replaced with Additional SP Mamta Vohra. Now police are planning to swap Vohra with IPS officer as IO. Sources said Vohra is finding it difficult to wade through the complex nuances of the case because of her dearth of experiences in dealing with such cases.
The Academy security officer Satyaveer Singh had registered a case under Sections 420/467/468/471 of the IPC against Choudhary in the Mussoorie Police Station on April 2. Ruby was arrested on April 3 night. As part of the investigation, the institution’s Dy Director Saurabh Jain was grilled twice in the academy premises.
