The Crime Branch-CID of the State police is making a mess of the Ruby Choudhary case involving prestigious lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (lBSNAA), Mussoorie, according to Mussoorie BJP MlA Ganesh Joshi.
“Fair investigation would remain a far cry if things are left with the State-run agencies. Choudhary is being victimised with the focus of the investigators remaining riveted on letting the real culprits off the hook,” said the MlA demanding a CBI inquiry into the matter.
Joshi said handing over the case to the central investigative agency is an imperative in view of the State’s CB-CID bungling with it.
Other political parties concurred with him and said only the CBI can crack the case and adequately fix the responsibility. They said it is clear that Choudhary could not have clandestinely stayed put in the highly-fortified academy campus without overt complicity of at least a section of the top level academy officials.
The investigating officers lack the spunk even to grill the academy top brass, they said.
Former Uttarakhand State SP president Vinod Barthwal said the case is a slur over the face of lBSNAA, deemed as one of the finest academies of the country where the IAS probationers undergo training.
“The academy is a high security zone with the entry being restricted and the visitors remaining under round the clock surveillance. The case thus is a riddle and it must be cracked so as to ensure such impersonation does not recur,” he said, adding that the probe would prove a fiasco if it remains confined to arresting the small fries like the main accused and a security guard.
“How can we believe that Choudhary had attended a programme featuring President of India in the academy without some influential officers backing herIJ Things have not progressed a bit with the police acting partially to tighten the noose around the woman and to allow the main players to get away with their parts,” the senior SP leader said.
“Earlier too, things might have happed the same way with the complicity of some unscrupulous academy officers,” he said.
“To clear the air once and for all and to nail the mighty involved in the fraud, a CBI probe is needed. We hope, it would spare none,” he said.
BJP State president Tirath Singh Rawat said the case amounted to a mockery of the intelligence network.
“We must keep it in mind that the academy is one of the targets of the terrorists. The seriousness of the matter warrants a CBI probe,” he said.
