RTO yet to enforce red beacon notification

Published on:

After the notification issued regarding the usage of red beacons on the official vehicles belonging to persons holding constitutional posts, officials of the Regional Transport Office, Dehradun, claim that no official notice has been received yet for the enforcement of this decision.

Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) (Administration), Sandeep Saini maintained that although the government order copy has been received, the formal notice is yet to come. The RTO officials have already made preparations and necessary guideline have been issued to officials concerned regarding the enforcement of the red-beacon regulation but the execution would be initiated only after the final official notice is received, stressed Saini. Contrary to this, Additional Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) (Enforcement), RP Rathore, said that he has not received any instructions from the senior RTO officials yet in this respect.

It must be mentioned that recently the Uttarakhand Government had issued a notification regarding usage of the red beacons without hooters which are now allowed only on the official vehicles of the Governor, Chief Minister, Vidhan Sabha Speaker, leader of Opposition in the Vidhan Sabha, members of the State cabinet, Chief Justice of the High Court and judges of the High Court. A decision is still to be made regarding the use of blue and other coloured beacons.
