Dehradun regional transport officer Dinesh Chandra Pathoi has written a letter to Dehradun Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Arun Mohan Joshi seeking police force for the verification of unauthorised people around the RTO premises. It is important to mention here that since the raid of vigilance department in Dehradun office, Pathoi has taken multiple steps to prevent such incidents from being repeated.
Pathoi said, “Since the last few days we have prohibited the entry of any unauthorised person in our offices or in the RTO compound as well. In fact the public also have been intimated that no unauthorised person will be allowed on their behalf to carry forward their applications.
Only the person who has been authorised by the applicant will be allowed, that also for two or three times, otherwise this facility can also be misused.
However, the problem is that our authority is only inside the compound. Outside the RTO compound if someone is trying to confuse or entice the applicants by saying that it will take longer for them to get their application processed in the office without any outside help, then we cannot do anything about it unless we get some complaint about it.”
He added, “Regarding this problem we have written a letter to Dehradun SSP so that such unauthorised personnel roaming around the campus can be checked.
We have asked the SSP to deploy police force for few days here so that actions can be taken against such people.” It is pertinent to mention here that after bursting a corruption scandal in RTO office, vigilance team had arrested three people from Dehradun RTO on November 21.
