Ramesh Butola and Arvind Sharma participated as non government representatives while Nabiyal and Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Dinesh Chandra Pathoi participated as Government representatives in the meeting of RTA.From the number of applicants for permits on various city routes it was clear that the number of small transport vehicles would increase in the routes of Dehradun city and nearby areas. The issue of granting contract carriage to the Tata magic and other small vehicles, standardizing the colour of Vikrams, changes in conditions for the contract permit and city buses routes and imposing heavy penalties on the permit violators came up for discussions in the meeting. Objections from the existing transporters were also registered for accepting application for permits in the non profitable routes.
The President of City Bus Union Vijay Vardhan Dandriyal raised objection about transport departments plan to grant stage carriage permit to Tata Magic vehicles despite of the fact that the department has not formulated any colours to these vehicles. Accusing the officers of department for engaging in rampant corruption in granting permission for permits, Dandriyal demanded that the state government should constitute an inquiry on the matter.
