Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat announced on Saturday Rs400 crore for the construction of ring road in Haldwani and Rs50 crore for building a multi-storied parking lot meant for 800 vehicles in Nainital city. Besides, he said that the State Government would give subsidy of Rs50 to the farmers engaged in growing nutritious fodder.
Cooperative dairy federation would be motivated to use Magna as fodder for their cattle in place of urea, he said, adding that it would substantially improve the quality of the milk to be produced. “From May 1, those engaged in cattle rearing would be enabled to purchase such fodder at Rs50 less than MRP in the form of subsidy to be borne by the state government. We hope that this would benefit around 1.55 lakh cattle farmers,” CM said.
Calling Haldwani as the gateway to picturesque Kumaon, he said that the ring road to be built would help the tourists head for their destinations while skirting Haldwani city. He also said that the parking lot was an imperative for the expanding city, adding that once it comes up it would decongest the roads here.
CM expressed concerned over the declining water level of the famed Nainital lake and said that he would have a study conducted through NIRI committee. “We would spare no effort to revive the lake,” he said.
