In another incident of fraudulent net-banking transaction reported from Vikasnagar area in Dehradun, `3.68 lakh was allegedly withdrawn from the bank account of a teacher of a Government-run school Pal Singh by unidentified persons.

Singh said that the amount had been withdrawn over five days starting from November 26.

Singh further said he had received a call on his cell phone on November 26 seeking information related to his ATM card, with the caller posing as a bank officer.

“He told me that my ATM card had been blocked. To reactivate the ATM card, I must provide him with the relevant details of my ATM card. He asked me about the date the card was issued. As I said I could not remember it right then he insisted that I must provide him with the details to have the ATM card re-activated. A bit nervous, I called up my wife, gathered the details and informed him the same.  He then sent several messages and made repeated phone calls between November 26 and November 30. A little suspicious, I sent my wife Rajkumari to the bank to enquire into the same. Rajkumari was informed by the officers of SBI, Vikasnagar branch on November 30 that about `3.5 lakh had been withdrawn from my account over five days from November 26 to November 30. Scared, I rushed to the branch to get the account blocked,” Singh said.

The teacher said he  received phone call from the fraudster again around 10 am on Tuesday. The mobile phone number he said he had received such calls from is 8298054365.

Singh said he went to the SSP office on Tuesday and submitted an application, seeking stringent action against the accused.
