Defining the rally to be addressed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Parade Ground on Tuesday as ‘Parivartan Maha rally’, the state BJP president Ajay Bhatt questioned on Monday the police-drafted traffic plan, saying that the people attending the rally will have to travel a lot to reach the venue because of the places marked for parking being far away from the venue.
Reacting to the Chief Minister Harish Rawat’s objection to the nomenclature of the project the foundation of which would be unveiled by the PM as ‘ all –weather road for Char Dham’, Bhatt said that it has exposed the bankruptcy of the Congress. “The CM must clarify whether he is happy with the Rs 12000 crore project the Centre is gifting to the state or not,” he said.
He further said that the Centre has already sanctioned Rs 3000 crore with tender worth Rs 2000 crore being already been floated. “Rs 500 crore has already been released for the mega projct. To be built by the foreign-based builders, the road to be spread over 900 kms would reach up to the strategic Sino-Indian borders,” he said.
He ridiculed the CM dubbing the project as a political stunt, asking whether the myriad projects being unveiled by him daily can be called election gimmicks. “The projects being unveiled by the CM can aptly be dubbed as election stunts as he is on the unveiling spree without any back-up from the cash-strapped exchequer,” Bhatt said. Rubbishing the CM’s allegation that BJP is arm-twisting CBI to harass him ahead of the election, using the sting CD, Bhatt said that the CBI inquiry had been recommended by the Governor himself. “It is the same Governor who proved generous to him, giving him as many as 10 days to prove his majority in the floor of the House after what happened on March 18, during the time when the state was under the President’s Rule. My party has nothing to do with CBI investigation. The same is the case with the Centre,” the state BJP chief averred, adding that it was the High Court that cleared the decks for the CBI probe after it rejected the CM’s appeal to give him relief. “Jockeying desperately to evoke public sympathy while trying all tricks in the book to scuttle the probe would prove counter-productive for the CM,” Bhatt said.
