In view of three important events happening on Wednesday, the Dehradun traffic police have drafted a traffic plan in the city. SP Traffic PK Rai said that as per the traffic plan drafted, several routes have been changed to spare the common people inconveniences. Notably, the Budget Session of the Vidhan Sabha and Jhanda Mela are slated to begin on Wednesday. Besides, Uttarakhand Class X and Class XII board examinations would be held on the same day.
With the possibility of a large number of pilgrims arriving in SGRR Darbar to participate in the hoisting of sacred flag on Wednesday, things would be trying for the traffic police. Besides, the students would be on the roads as they would take the board examinations. This aside, the Vidhan Sabha session would begin with possibility of people taking to the roads to agitate. Keeping these in view, some traffic routes would be changed to ensure that traffic movement remains smooth. Doon residents’ concerns have also been taken care of while diverting traffic routes in the State capital, he said.
Traffic police will be deployed at important crossings to resolve the traffic snarls during peak hours and also to deal with possible agitations. To keep order, barricades will be placed at important places like Bypass, Rispana, Shastri Nagar and some other places in the city. SP Rai appealed to Dehradun residents, especially board examinees, to follow the changed routes.
