As for meeting the basic need of furniture in the primary schools, the role of Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR) is greater than that of the Government. According to the Sarva Siksha Abhiyan, 17274 furniture sets have been provided under CSR in the State so far. While 53 sets have been provided to three schools in Dehradun 153 schools in Tehri have been given 2296 sets. Besides, 87 schools have been adopted by a non-governmental body in Udham Singh Nagar district for five years. Additional project director Mukul Sati said, “After Arvind Pandey became the Primary Education Minister of the State the work of providing furniture under CSR has gained momentum. However, we have received no fund for buying furniture for the schools from the Government.”
