Night patrolling is rare, they say, adding that the criminals are ruling the roost with police remaining passive to take on them. Even the President’s Rule has failed to better things for them, the critical refrain runs.

Vikasnagar circle officer SK Singh said that teams have been formed and deployed at various places to nab the accused. Police are working on several angles. CCTV camera which was installed in the ATM has been recovered and police are reviewing CCTV footages.

It is learnt from police that two unidentified persons entered the ATM around 4 am on early Wednesday morning. They attempted to break the lock of the ATM machine but failed to do so. later, they escaped after severely beating the guard posted there. Informed around 6 am, police rushed to the site. Police found the guard lying on the ground.  He was rushed to the Doon Hospital.

Moreover, police are still groping in the dark about the identity of the absconding accused of the burglary that occurred in a house in Sahaspur area on Tuesday early morning. However, police achieved a breakthrough by arresting a criminal of a Punjab- based gang who had allegedly burgled a house at Sahaspur on Monday night. The police recovered the stolen ornaments from his possession too. .

Sounding worried over the spate of crimes going unabated, observers say that Sahaspur police station area being very sensitive in terms of crimes and law and order, police set-up should be revamped to make the police station more effective to curb crimes.
